Boingo...wifi everywhere!

I was looking on the internet for a wifi provider and suddenly came across Boingo. This company offers pc and mobile internet access in more than 100.000 spots all over the world for a monthly payment. What most attracted my attention is that in Spain, the monthly payment for mobile access is of 6 Euros - nothing compared to other providers! The only (big) problem I found is that there are still very little hotspots in my country and that means there's not one near my place...and therefore no access from home (which is the main place where I'll be surfing through the net). I guess that for this reason, the company has lowered the price (which in the States rounds the 40 dollars).

I still think it's probably a very good option for someone travelling a lot!

InviteShare!

I’m an internet freak, but in the good sense of course :-) I’ve just discovered InviteShare.com a new website in which people can send and receive invitations to new websites in beta. Wow…I’m going to open a profile and see where I’ll have access to…

Fring & Station (mobile apps)

Fring is a mobile application which allows its users to make free internet calls (using the cell phone’s data plan or WiFi connection) as well as chat on IM platforms like Skype, MSN, ICQ, Twitter, Google Talk, Yahoo, AIM and any SIP network.

This is not the first mobile application that I use, moreover it was part of my job to try as many mobile IM software as possible. I have tried with Morange, Yahoo Mobile, Velvet Puffin and so on but I found Fring, together with Station (zed’s new application, launched in September) to be the best ones. All of them have of course different apps, which allow social content, as well as IM. What I most liked about Fring was the possibility not only of chatting but also of making voice calls. When IM I liked the fact that you could chat directly in the conversation window (which is in most applications of the kind not so - you chat on a kind of message window and then publish in the chat window - this means, you cannot read your friend’s messages when you are writing)…Fring now also allows file-swapping, that means you can send files to your friends when IM…Cool!

Zed’s Station has also a very good design and is easy to use. This app is more a kind of mobile sharing application, which allows its users not only to chat with IM but also to upload content to zed’s website, acces their blog (read as well as post), access all of your email accounts from your mobile phone and download content. It’s design is really great, you can have it in eight or nine colours and it’s very easy to browser…

Anyway, the biggest problem I see to these mobile applications are the carrier costs for internet connection, which are (at least in Spain) still very high…Hopefully this will change in a few months…!

Surf & win!

Today I’ve discovered this new site which has made partnerships with many sites, so that diverting traffic to their sites turns into money for users. Most sites do get paid for diverting traffic to their partner websites, but users are not paid for this. In this case, BeRuby does not earn as much as other websites but it shares its benefits with its users, making them happpier!

I’ve started using it today, establishing it as my home site and personalizing my menus (of course, not only did I look at the sites which I visit more often, but also the sites which have bigger revenues)… :-) The site looks a bit crazy, because its full of search boxes and I do not know if it’s going to work, but anyway, if it works I’m not going to say no to those extra Euros…

Never enough?

I was just having a look at Techcrunch.com, a site I really love! I’m much into new technologies, internet, cellphones, music players, social websites and so on (I must say it’s also an important part of my work life!). I read the news every day and discover new gadgets, new sites…And its amazing! I’ve opened all around the net different profiles, in a huge number of online communities, always trying to keep up with time. But it seems like a neverending story!

I’m going to try and talk about my experience in the different sites I’ve signed up for…Not an easy task, and remember…There are a thousand other sites! Feel free to give me a hand if you’re signed up in other communities, I’ll be glad to read you!!
